Pre-Trip Activity

Things are a little crazy in the Stringer house right now. Twice we've thought we had a consulate date locked down and twice we found out it wasn't really locked down. We're hoping to fly out Thursday June 16th, but we know it's all in God's good hands.

As you can see from this picture Ginger has been busy packing. The bags and weight limit getting to China are pretty generous (same as flying around domestically.) However, the in-country flying from Beijing to Guangzhou is someone more restrictive. Each person can only have 44 lbs of checked luggage. That seems like a lot, but when your wife is afraid to eat anything that is not prepared in her own kitchen you wind up bringing a lot of food.

We're only one night from leaving so it's getting pretty exciting around here. I told Ginger that I feel like we're on a roller-coaster and we're "clack-clacking" up the 1st big hill. It's too late to get off now so we might as well hold on and enjoy the ride!

Here are a few photo's of the room we've fixed up for Sydney. We painted it with the help of our good painter friend (who is one of the families that is adopting with us that lives on our street.) Victoria and London painted almost all of the scenes on the walls with a little help from Ginger. Ginger also made the curtains, bedspread, and pillow shams. She's so talented, but I can't talk her into going into business for herself.
